About Us

The DeKalb Municipal Association (DMA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created by the cities of DeKalb County—including the DeKalb portion of the City of Atlanta—to promote collaboration, strengthen intergovernmental relationships, and improve the efficiency of municipal operations. DMA supports its member cities in navigating complex policy challenges and working together to deliver high-quality public services.

DMA provides a structured platform for elected officials and municipal staff from DeKalb’s 13 cities to engage in shared learning, policy alignment, and strategic action. Member cities include Avondale Estates, Brookhaven, Chamblee, Clarkston, Decatur, Doraville, Dunwoody, Lithonia, Pine Lake, Stonecrest, Stone Mountain, Tucker, and the DeKalb portion of Atlanta.

DMA’s key policy and legislative work is led by its Policy Council, a dedicated body that meets monthly to discuss state and regional issues affecting DeKalb municipalities. The general membership meets quarterly to align on priorities, share updates, and build partnerships across city boundaries.

Meeting Schedule

General Membership Meetings: Last Thursday of February, May, August, and November

Policy Council Meetings: Last Thursday of each month

DMA plays a vital role in amplifying the collective voice of DeKalb’s cities and ensuring taxpayer dollars are used effectively through collaborative governance.
